Recently I attended Bizhacks at the University of British Columbia, where my team and I were finalist. Our project was on how to improve Best Buy’s product pages for their e-commerce website. It was a basic idea we managed to complete in 24 hours where, we took the reviews and description for each product, then optimized the order and meta tags based off of a Google Trend Analysis. It was a quick, clean and unique idea that no one had seen anywhere else. However, the big appeal of the idea was that it was fast, and effective. An average IT team (let a lone the one at Best Buy), could easily implement our idea in a day’s work. On top of this, I estimate that our solution would lead to 30-50% increase in search engine results for Best Buy.
